Nestled in the verdant Meerbrook Valley in the Peak
District, our former working farm takes full advantage of
its precious location.
Alderlee is ideally located to explore some of the finest
scenery and attractions of south Derbyshire, south Cheshire
and north
Staffordshire.
Our location on the very edge of the Peak National Park puts
us within easy walking distance of
The Roaches, a series of gritstone escarpments that mark the southern most tip of the
Pennine chain. These spectacular rocks are popular with
climbers and walkers alike. The Roaches was voted one of
Britian's Top Ten Walks by the Sunday Telegraph, so visitors to Alderlee will
definitely want to put their boots on and explore this stunning landmark.
Only a five minute walk away, our local village pub The Lazy Trout, serves traditional ales and home cooked food in front of a warm welcoming fire or when the sun is shining, in the garden with the Roaches as a stunning backdrop.
Just a short stroll across the fields is
Tittesworth Water with its many water based activities such
as: kayaking, canoeing and raft building. There is a visitor
centre, lunchtime restaurant and a fantastic adventure
playground to ensure a goodnight sleep for the children.
A short drive away is the Spa Town of
Buxton
with it's spectacular Opera House and renowned fresh water
spring, or why not try the Moorland market town of
Leek with
its myriad antique shops.
For the young and young at heart
there is always the lure of
Alton Towers which is less than
half an hour's drive away.
